General Car Rider Information

We want loading and unloading our students to go as safely and quickly as possible and we need your help to make that happen! We have provided some important information below about the processes in place to help our students arrive and leave school in an orderly and safe manner. Please encourage your child to exit/enter your vehicle quickly as a courtesy to those in line behind you. Thank you for your support as we work together to provide a safe environment for all!

Morning Car Rider Information: 

• Cars may begin unloading at 8:00am. School begins promptly at 8:40am.
• Pick-up/drop-off will be at the front of the school. 
• School personnel will display a stop sign. Place vehicle in park. 
• Students exit the car and school personnel will be there to assist your students getting out of the car. 
• When all students have unloaded, school personnel will indicate that vehicles may move forward, slowly exiting the property. 
• Students must be escorted to the front office for check in after the 8:40 tardy bell.

Morning Parent Walker Information: 

• Upon entering school grounds, parents will need to check in at the front entrance and receive a visitor's sticker. 
• If your student is getting breakfast, parents are to remain in the atrium and should not enter the cafe. Please let your student exit the cafe.
• Parents and guardians, please walk your student(s) to their classroom(s) only. The main purpose is for school safety.
• If you need to meet with a teacher, please schedule a conference. Teachers are working to prepare for the instructional day and to have everything prepared to start teaching at 8:40am.
• After 8:25am, parents will not be allowed to walk their students to class and the front doors will be locked. We will have staff throughout the building, to ensure your child finds their classroom. We also encourage and promote student independence, and appreciate your support. 
• At 8:30am, announcements begin and students start their instructional day. All parents/guardians must have exited the building at that time.

Afternoon Dismissal: 

Car Riders - parents must obtain a MES Car Rider ID Card from the front office. Students who ride cars will be dismissed at 3:20 pm. Riders will be loaded into cars from the cafeteria by school personnel. Students will not be dismissed to parents from the cafeteria. 

For safety, parents must remain in vehicles and display a MES Car Rider ID on dash. This will allow staff on duty to be assured that the person in the car is authorized to pick up the student(s) listed. Students are not permitted to walk through the parking lot without a parent/guardian. 

Walkers - students will dismiss to the flagpole. Parents/Guardians of walkers must secure a MES Walker ID card from the front office. Students will not be dismissed without proper card and identification. 

Daycare van riders - bus riders and daycare van riders will be dismissed from the side loading area as buses arrive.
