Welcome to Monroe Elementary!

Principal - Dane Callahan

The Walton County Board of Education has named a new principal for the 2024-2025 school year. The Walton County Board of Education unanimously approved the recommendation of Dane Callahan at Monroe Elementary School. 

"I am excited to welcome Mr. Dane Callahan into his new role for the upcoming school year,” said Superintendent Nathan Franklin. “With his proven track record of exceptional leadership and strong personal connection to the Monroe community, we are confident in Mr. Callahan's abilities to build on Monroe Elementary School's success and continue moving the school forward."
 
Dane Callahan, assistant principal at Loganville Middle School, has been selected to replace retiring Principal Dr. Zeester Swint at Monroe Elementary School. A Walton County native and former Monroe Elementary School student, Callahan has over 12 years of experience in the Walton County School District, with six years of experience in administration. Callahan began his career as a high school counselor at Walnut Grove High School and served as a middle school counselor at Youth Middle School before transitioning to his current role as assistant principal at Loganville Middle School. Callahan holds a bachelor’s degree from Presbyterian College, a middle grades certification from Piedmont College, a master’s degree from the University of Georgia, and a specialist degree from Valdosta State University.  

“I am excited and deeply honored to join the Monroe Elementary School family,” said Callahan. “Having attended Monroe Elementary School and being a resident of Walton County, I am humbled to take on the role of principal at Monroe Elementary School and to work alongside our dedicated staff, parents, and students. I eagerly anticipate collaborating with local business owners and community members to help empower each student to reach their fullest academic, social, and emotional potential.”


Assistant Principal - Laci Autrey-Clark

Monroe Elementary School is proud to welcome Laci Autrey-Clark as the new assistant principal. With over 22 years of dedicated service to Monroe Elementary, Mrs. Autrey-Clark brings a wealth of experience, a deep commitment to student success, and a strong connection to the MES community.

She holds a bachelor's degree from Jacksonville State University, a master's degree from Brenau University, and a specialist degree from Piedmont College. Throughout her career, Mrs. Autrey-Clark has been known for her passion for education and her unwavering support of both students and staff. Her leadership is grounded in building strong relationships, fostering a positive school culture, and ensuring every child has the opportunity to thrive.

Mrs. Autrey-Clark is honored to continue serving the Monroe Elementary family in this new role and looks forward to a successful school year ahead.
